Your future as a starting point
You want to work on systems that don’t just function, but control entire port operations worldwide. Where software meets heavy duty automation, and reliability is not optional. In this role, you build solutions that operators depend on every second of the day.
Highlights
- Work on high-tech crane automation in global port environments
- Combine SCADA, PLC and remote-control systems in one role
- International projects with on-site commissioning
- Open for English speaking candidates who live in the Netherlands
What are you going to do
You start your day reviewing a system design for a remote-controlled crane installation. Together with PLC and hardware engineers, you align how the SCADA layer will interact with the underlying control logic. You’re not just building software, you’re shaping how operators interact with complex machinery in real time.
As the day progresses, you dive into implementation. You configure and develop SCADA solutions, ensuring they are robust, scalable and safe. When needed, you step into PLC logic to understand behavior at its core, adjusting where integration requires it. You continuously balance performance, safety and usability in environments where downtime is not an option.
During project phases, you take ownership beyond development. You are involved in commissioning on-site, testing systems, troubleshooting issues and optimizing performance under real conditions. From first design to final handover, you ensure systems work exactly as intended — and can be trusted to keep ports running.
This is what you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar
- Experience with object-oriented programming in industrial environments
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems (preferably WinCC OA)
- Ability to read and adjust PLC logic (SIMATIC S7)
- Strong understanding of system integration across software, PLC and hardware layers
- You are professionally fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage
What you get in return
- Salary aligned with your experience and expertise
- International working environment with impactful projects
- Combination of office-based engineering and on-site commissioning
- Work in a multidisciplinary and young engineering team
- High level of responsibility and technical ownership
- Opportunities to grow within automation and control systems
About the client
You will join an internationally operating engineering environment focused on automation within heavy-duty logistics systems. The culture is technical, collaborative and driven by innovation, where engineers take ownership of complex challenges.
✔ Plus point: working on mission-critical systems with real-world impact
✔ Plus point: strong collaboration between software, PLC and hardware disciplines
